I’ve been pretty busy lately.
Lots going on at work and lots of thinking about what the next couple of weeks might bring. Can’t really get into details now, but I have a feeling that the next few weeks are going to be rather exciting.
But there are a lot of things in my life right now that are completely helping me and I’m loving right now. Never mind the fact that half of them are food related…
1. Pre-cut produce at Whole Foods: Before anyone tells me what a waste of money this is, I already know. But I have found that I am more likely to eat fruits and veggies (and not let them go bad in my fridge) if I purchase these pre-cut and packaged fruits and veggies. I’m LOVING berries in my oatmeal/oat bran in the mornings! I figure it is worth it if I am actually eating more fruits and veggies and not wasting food.
2. The George Winston channel on Pandora: I just upgraded my Pandora from the free version to the Pandora One subscription and am loving it! The George Winston channel was on at my house ALL DAY yesterday while I cleaned and did stuff around the house. It was great! Also good…the Glee Cast Radio channel. This one might be on in my office most days.
3. Avocado and hummus sandwiches: This might sound gross, but trust me when I say I could eat one of these every day for lunch…and I have for the past few weeks! I use a whole wheat English muffin and smear it with hummus. On top is 1/2 an avocado and any other veggie. I’ve been using bell peppers. Such a filling and delicious lunch!
4. Walking! I live about a mile or so from Old Town Alexandria. I’ve been enjoying the weather and walking to Old Town. Just this past weekend, I walked there on Friday to meet a friend for dinner, walked there on Sunday to meet a friend for brunch, and then walked about half way there (to the post office and Whole Foods) today. My new favorite thing is to get off the Metro on my way home from work a stop early to pick up random groceries I need at Whole Foods and then walk the rest of the way home. It is less than a mile, but a nice extra little bit of activity into my day.
5. Tofu: I know there is a lot of people who just don’t get tofu, but I have been seriously craving it recently. Not sure why and I prepare it the same way every time I eat it. I had it three days in a row last week for dinner and was happy as a clam.
6. Friends: I’m enjoying focusing on my friends and spending quality time with good people. I have spent too much time in my life spending time with people to be nice and not because they were good for me. Enjoying my time with friends makes me happy! And reconnecting with old friends has been a fun perk of this as well!

I love Old Town! That’s why I end my run two miles from my car, so I can walk through Old Town and admire the businesses and the streets and the architecture. I dream of owning one of those gorgeous homes one day.
I’m a firm believer that some things are worth the extra price. Sometimes you just have to pay for convenienc; I agree that pre cut fruits and veggies are totally worth the extra few cents.
